greetings

i began playing violin when i was about 6, and only played for a year or so, and very much enjoyed it from what i can remember. well, money tight and everything i was forced to stop, and i recently acquired a violin from an "attic" for free. It`s in the process of being repaired and made playable, and i plan on starting to learn as soon as it`s finished. I use to play classical, but i`m leaning more towards bluegrass and celtic now, more of a fiddle angle. I`m not sure when i`m going to have time for formal lessons, so i was wondering if anyone could reccomend a DVD or VHS series or books that could help me get started down either of these paths? I`d really appreciate it, as there are numerous sets that claim to teach these methods, but i know only a select few of them are worth the pricetag, i`m just not sure which ones. Thanks for all the help!

I am really not sure of any dvd`s, books, vhs, etc. you should get, but sometime just sit and listen to the radio or something and try to play by ear. I know i probably sound like an idiot, but just listen for the notes in the song and try your best to recognize them, that how everyone in my family learned how to play instruments. I have neglected my violin for a while and better get back to it before i forget how to use it. Take care and good luck.
