Hi Folks,

I have just done the usual beginners trick. I was tuning it, using the pegs a bit too much I think and snapped my E string. I really should remember the small adjusters.
Therefore what string would you advice for a replacement?

Liz, what strings were on the Violin initially, I have forgotten sorry(Gems2)?

Do I need to replace all 4, or can I just replace 1 of them? I take it if I replace just 1 then I need to replace with the same make.
Typical this, I have had the violin for nearly 3 months now and I think I have been progressing rather well, I booked a violin lesson to start when the kids go back to school and now the lesson is nearly here I go snap 1 of the strings.....typical.

Thanks for any help

Darren

Shucks, I`m exposed!

I am really an alien life form from the planet zigzog. I have fitted all my violin strings with tracking devices so that I know exactly where the violins are at any time. Built into these trackers is an interesting little device. Any time the violin is being played on the 31st day of a month at 8pm, the device activates and the violin turns into a bullfrog.

My mother planet has invested the equivalent of millions of dollars into this system and the satellite devices home in on the unfortunate violinist and record his facial and verbal expressions.

Our remaining goal is to accomplish this with a top soloist during a live concert. That way we could record the expressions of the soloist, the conductor, the orchestra, the audience, and whoever actually owns the Strad or Guaneri he is playing at the time. Just think of it, a million dollars worth of violin turned into a bullfrog, that would be worth seeing wouldn`t it ;-)
