Ok, i saw this thread and went through all the comments(well, most of them) and I also needed tips and now i`m totally confused cause everyone here have many different point of views on how to play and if you can play by yourself or having a teacher help, and now i don`t know what to do. Please, if your gonna give some tips, make sure you`re a PROFESSIONAL VIOLINIST, ok thanks.

But someone could be lying if they said they were professional. nd by professional, do you mean world-famous (e.g. cho liang lin) or just playing for a living?

i`ve been playing the violin for only less than a year. i could not remember when and how exactly i learned how to `play vibrato`. what i realized, however, was the `magical tendency` (which seems very natural)for me (my fingers especially) to play vibrato whenever a certain piece or portion of music needs such! just feel the music and be absorbed in it!

My teacher taught me to use yur wrist while vibrating. Like, pretend yur holding the violin. The hand that holds the neck is the one Im focusing on. Now just move yur wrist back and forth. There! Now when yur actually holding the violin, yur finger should move back and forth over the string. An yur wrist should be helping with that.
