Hmm adding on to my last post...

I`ve got a Jan Dvorak Czech violin, so as Elizabeth seems to be the most knowledgable one here, I`ll let her say whether its the Thomastik Vision`s im happy with or if theyre just an agreeable set with Czech instruments...

What have you found to work well on Czech instruments?

Can`t help you there i`m afraid. We have only just got our first batch of Vision strings and i haven`t yet tried them on any violin.

I have to agree - I won`t use anything other than Olive E Strings anymore. I have yet to find an E String that rivals their quality and tone.

Tried the new Vision strings. Not keen. Too metallic.

On my instrument they have a really nice rich, full sound. I havent really heard too much variety, that could affect my decision making.

What would you suggest on Czech/german ish instruments? Im interested in trying out different stuff.

And I do need to try one of those Oliv E`s... especially with how expensive the Vision Titanium E`s are...

If you`ve getting the sound you want then stick with it!

Otherwise, for me, Corelli Crystals are working quite nicely on the Czech ones. If you`re talking about a new German instrument then really i`d be guessing: we`ve had the really good ones (four figures) work nicely with dominants but I haven`t tried anything much else. Old German instruments seem to cry out for Eudoxas, in my experience.

Ill try out those corelli ones sometime, and I really need to try out those Oliv E`s...

Its a newer Czech model, id assume theyre pretty similar to the germans is why i mentioned german instruments.

Wow, those corelli crystal sets are pretty cheap compared to other stuff... what about their Alliance Vivace? It looks like a beefier version of the crystals...

Ever tried larson strings on violin? Ive heard theyre great on cello but Ive never heard them on violin.

Also what about the other Pirastro Oliv strings? Most people Ive heard just use their E`s...
