Hi,

I have a Gliga Gems II new violin and noticed that the E string is digging a bit inside the bridge. I have noticed that sometimes some material is put between this string and the bridge. What type of material can be used? How is it applied?

Thanks

Miguel

it was already on my violin...just go 2 a music store, and ask about it.. i dunno if it needs 2 b on there, or if it depends on the string, and/or the type of bridge..

Yes, put the rubber thing and make sure you get a pencil and lubricate on the strings touching the bridge.

It`s a bridge protector. Probably the only way to get one is to actually replace the string. If it`s still got the factory strings on you would be well advised to replace them anyway: dominant strings go very well on Gligas.

It has the strings that came with it and I will keep them because I am a beginner and there is no point in upgrading now. If I canīt find something in the stores, what can I put there? Leather, or something like this?

Mail me and tell me your address, we get spare bridge protectors in packets of strings from time to time and you may as well have them if they will help.

I got a bridge protector, a small plastic tube. However, the bridge has a 0.5 to 1 mm hole. Shall I put something more to protect it? I saw some protectors made of parchment, but canīt find them locally. What are these made of?

I know what you mean but I don`t know what they are made of.

A simple bridge cushion might do the job and we have about 50 of them sitting around on the bedroom windowsill. Would you like one?

you should replace your bridge if the e string went in significantly. i had my bridge replaced because it was in danger of collasping but i had to cough up 30 bux

The bridge is not in danger of colapsing (I think). Liz, what is a brigde cushion? Can you describe it? I live in Portugal so its a bit difficult for transportation.
