Yes, you gently wipe it off after every practice. Use a soft cloth and be gentle so as not to scratch the varnish.

About every two weeks I pour a little rubbing alcohol onto a cloth baby diaper. It gets the rosin off really well and won`t damage your strings. Make sure the cloth is damp, not `wet`.Tootles!

if u have an antique violin with scratches, and u would like to maintain that "old violin" look, DO NOT USE SUPER SENSITIVE POLISH! i`ve used it on my stainer and it revarnished the scratches and just dropped my violin`s value 10 fold. it really sucks the polish "fills" scratches and there is no mention of anything like that on the polish package
