Emmmz... I`m playing the Grade 5 pieces for violin by the AMEB... I`m playing this Etude by Kayser - Study No.24 from 36 Etuden fur Violine Op.20... And I cannot seem to get my staccato bowing right! Whenever I play it strongly, the bow always bounces too fast and I go out of time and/or I always brush against other strings, making weird sound effects and extra notes sound... And when I try playing carefully so as not to sound the extra notes, the staccato comes out weak and I also go out of time... The staccato needed is in the lower half of the bow... Any tips to practise in playing this staccato in the lower half?

The best place to find out things like this is
www.violinmasterclass.com.

They teach ALL the basic left and right hand movements in the form of masterclasses. Fantastic website.
