Is it possible/`correct` for a player to use one finger for playing two notes at the same time? For example, on the D and A string, G and D are in the same `place,` so could you place one finger over the two strings, or is there some other way?

Yes. There`s no other way of playing fifths. Aim to put your finger BETWEEN the strings.

That`s totally okay, and sometimes the only way you can play a certain sequence of notes. I don`t like it because my fingers are narrow and just sit between the strings, not holding either one down
