I wish I could help you
When I first started, I searched for hours upon hours. The sad truth is, there just isn't that much information available out there. I don't know if it's because there are so few dedicated viola players or what, but there isn't much. There are some viola websites out there but the information they had seemed rather lacking to a novice such as myself. Mostly general, brief history.
Best bet is to just find a viola instructor (check a local university, if you have one: lessons might be free!) and take a couple lessons with a rented viola (costs around $20-25 a month where I live) to see if you like it. That's how I got started, anyway.
