Hi its me again!

I`m raising money to by a viola. I want to know how much a Viola would cost in generel.? I would like to by the older type, because they sound the best. The problem is I can`t realy tell what is considered old, in good condition, and sounds good. I have noooo idea how a viola is aupposed to sound. I like the deeper sounding ones. How much is it to have lessons? Are older violas more expensive?
Thanks again, CWV

It depends on who you take them from for lessons. Any where from $15 to $45 is average in florida.

As for cost...my friend plays viola and I remember him complaining that it would cost him at least $3500 to replace his...I don`t know if that is average or he was just pulling my leg.

I know a wood instrument, non-student model is over $1000.

It depends what quality viola you want to get. You can get a beginner viola for under 1000$, even for only 500 or so. This is not going to be the greatest viola, but you can get a better one as you advance, for more. They can, like any instrument, get really expensive, thousands and thousands of dollars. As for the sound, it would be best to play the viola before you buy it, to see what it`s like. If you have never played before, then definitely get someone who has to help you decide on a viola. Lessons are also important, and it depends on who you take from for the cost. 20-40 dollars an hour is pretty normal, I think. hope this is helpful!
