Hey everyone, I am interested in learning to play the viola. I am looking for a quality viola between $500-$600 dollars. Any suggestions on make and models?

Gliga Gems are amazing for a quarter of the price. You should look into them. The website is www.violinslover.com. I hope this helps!

I have a Scherl & Roth that is mint. It has a very nice case with bow, rosin, and shoulder rest. You can view it here. http://columbus.craigslist.org/msg/3389148279.html Its 100 less than what you wanted to spend. email me at mrrc71@gmail.com

I don't know if you found a viola already, but if not I would recommend a Franz Hoffmann Maestro. That is the make of viola I started on and it had a very rich and beautiful sound. Sharmusic.com has a whole line of Hoffmann violas ranging in price from $130 to $470 and they have a reliable return policy if you don't like what you get. Hope that helps!

Hi, when you get your new viola, check this out .. www.scalehelper.com

This App actually listens to your playing and gives you feedback - so it can help with your embouchure and stability of tone - and the accuracy of your pitching.

I listens to you and assesses your playing through scales an arpeggios - and even makes this kind of practice fun!
