I meant what were my errors? There`s no point in asking what a perfect fifth is because you told me already (duh). Sorry, everyone, I`m losing it.

Well, if you have a look, you`ll almost certainly see what you`ve missed. I noticed two missing D sharps and one missing G sharp just at a quick glance.

Ah, I see, my mistake. You were right, and I was wrong. Yeah, my problem was I forgot about semitones, but I did know about them. Gotcha. Right then. Man, that`s embarassing. Okay, to change the subject slightly, did you know that some historians think that violas were made before violins?

Now I decided to revert to a survey. Who is your favorite composer?

Ahh, all of that fifths-and sevenths-stuff is really confusing me! So the cheapest teacher you can find is $40??? for half an hour/week? or an hour? My teacher only charges $30 for an hour, and although few people know of her, I think she`s really good! As for the high school music groups, if you`re good enough, they might accept you. I don`t really know anything about Georgia, though. . .I guess it could be a lot different. . .And to answer your last question, I don`t really have a certain favorite composer. . .it`s a draw between a lot of them, and my number of favorites is growing on a daily basis, hehehe. Right now I`m really into Borodin; he wrote some awesome quartets, and my school quartet is playing his most famous, #2. It has a lot of solo-ish things for the 1st violin and cello, but the viola gets some great melodies too. It`s a pretty tricky piece. . .I also like Dvorak, in particular, his Serenade for Strings Op. 22. You probably haven`t heard of it--not many people have except for my friend and I, who are a little obsessed with it.. .

I know that`s not how you spell his name; I can`t remember how. Off the top of my head, I can`t really name a particularly favorite piece, but his style, in my opinion at least, is great. I like Chopin`s Military Polinaise, The Spinning song (you can probably tell I don`t know didly squat about classical composers), and Bach. Even more, I like the Irish band Casadah An Tsugan (Celtic for the twisted rope) and Winafred Horan. Check out some of thier CDs if you`re into the celtic fiddling deal, and let me know if you`ve heard them and what you think about them. Thank you for your responses and please continue to give your opinions and feel free to speak your mind.

Someone will do something. I am not sure what, but as you seem all to critise the Violn, maybe I should say this:

Email me a song in Midi format and I will make the theme for viola. Thanks

Antzhyzhyn@hotmail.com

or is it:

Ant_Zhyzhyn@hotmail.com

hmmm... Another mystery of life.

Ummm...we`re (or at least I`m not) not really criticizing Violins    18:07 on Tuesday, April 13, 2004

We`re not really comparing the violin to the viola to undermine violins, in fact, I think I speak for a lot of viola players when I say violins sound very beautiful. The reason why violins are brought into the picture is because the violin overshadows the viola so much, and the violist (for some players) are sick of it. Some people simply prefer the mellow qualities that the viola has, and most of those people express that opinion here. It`s not a putdown for violinists, it`s just the violas would like to be equal with violins. As for your MIDI, I personally am not that sure how to email it to you (I`m technologically stupid). But I don`t have to email anything. Just check out the viola pieces that are free; they have sound files with them. Hope this helps you understand it`s not neccesarily criticism, it`s frustration.

Hey everyone, I`ve played viola for 8 years now and I totally agree with you all. My favorite comoposer would have to be Berlioz, he has a piece written for viola and orchestra! I haven`t played it, but it is supposed to be great.
Right now in my school orchestra we are playing simple songs that are sooooo easy, but in one song we play the violas get the melody for about 10 measures, and we absolutely rip it up! oh, the song is the theme song to Pirates of the Carribean. I love the song! Anyways, it is unfair about not getting the melody, but don`t worry, one day, it will come!

I could Tab it    21:16 on Thursday, April 29, 2004

Yeah, rock on! Hey, you know what would be really cool? I violas could play the Pirates of the Carribean song! It is really awesome! In fact, I could probably figure it out on my viola soon! Just give me a little while and I`ll post a tab that`ll probably be off-key but the general melody. Peace!

I can work on transposing the melody of the song into alto clef, it shouldn`t take too long. Hopefully I will have it soon!

Ok, I know that us violas get really sucky parts, but SOMETIMES if you can find the music, we get really pretty solos! If you guys get the chance, listen to an orchestra play Bylina or English Folk Song...those really give violas a confidence boost! Email me if you like!
