It really depends on the type of boo-boo in the first place. Make sure you give an injury the right kind of treatment. Using a hotpad and icing pad are probly the easiest ways to ease the pain.
Several days ago I fell off a speed bike while going extremly fast and thankfully I escaped with six or seven bruises and no serious injuries. The bruises are mostly on my right arm or my bowing arm/elbow with another bruise on my right shoulder-blade. That was one day before a performance, so I didn`t have much time to recoup. The best treatment for me has just been resting and using a ice/heat pad on the sore spots.
Rock climbing has been something that I really enjoy, but I always worry about getting an injury that could prevent me from playing.
So all I can say is just to be careful what you choose to do. And be sure that you don`t practice too much, our bodies need rest.

I dislocated my knee and missed 2 concerts during the winter. I was in gym (9th grade) and was just playing around when I jumped up to block someone`s shot and was hit from behide. I fell and dislocated my knee. I was on crutches for 2 weeks and was finally able to walk on Christmas Eve.
It was funny when I did it because I had no idea what I did to my self. At first I laughed because the person I jumped in front of said that I kicked him in the chest. Once I tried to pick myself I realized that I couldn`t and had to be wheeled to the nurse. It was Dec. 4 when it happened. I remember that day very well because it was winter and I had to go to 2 doctors in my gym shorts and a T-shirt.
I also agree with Ed. Unless the doctor gives you some special meds, I would just use some Tylenol and ice/heating pad. I only use ice when I have swelling, bruises, or hurt bones. I use heat when relaxing muscles from bruises, sprains, and other things like that. Just keep in mind that injuries do take time.
Other problems I`ve had within the current year is having my wisdom teeth cut out (no chinrest for 1 week), 3 to 4 sprains in my knee (having help to get instument), and death in family (can`t be avoided).
Also be aware that Doctor`s visits also comes with 2/3 of these problems and when I was on cruthes I couldn`t practice.
Also, I had surgury, but that was after the school year so I`ll save that story for later.

I hurt my arm a few weeks ago, I fell on it while playing rounders, I got to last base and cos the grass was wet I slipped, went up in the air and landed with my arm straight, I had to go to hospital and turned out I`d sprained my elbow and it looked like a big bruise, I couldn`t move it or anything and I still haven`t got full mobility with it. Thing is I had an audition a couple of days later for my orchestra, what I did was slowly work up to being able to play my piece, sightread and play a couple of scales.
With your arm, try simple bending and straightening exercises in a bowing motion, don`t do it if it hurts or you`ll make it worse.

Did they take fluid off of your elbow? Or was it not swollen enough? That`s what happened to me, I got some where between 300cc to 400cc of fluid took off my knee.

Nope, no fluid taken off, they just took an x-ray to check I hadn`t broken it, gave me a sling, gave me some exercises to do and then sent me home.
