Here`s a great way to practice duets when you don`t have a partner:
The book and CD "Ten Duets for the Beginning Cellist" by Dennis Leogrande. The CD has tracks with both cello parts recorded separately. Each piece has a convenient "count off" so that you can easily begin at exactly the right time with the duet part. These are very elementary pieces, but excellent for learning how to count carefully when playing with a partner. There`s also a track for tuning.

I believe the book is available through Amazon for about $12.

Actually, I think the CD and book may only be $10 on Amazon, and it`s really worth it. The tempo isn`t too fast, and this really gives the feel of playing in harmony with someone. (unlike the Suzuki CD`s which are difficult to hear and move too fast)

This is not only excellent for practicing rhythm and intonation, but also very satisfying and lots of fun!
