Hey!!!! You should definitily check out a band called "Cursive". They added a cellist "Gretta Cohn" about 4 years ago. (Amazing in concert) They are more along the lines of Indy Rock... very passionate... I think you might find it interesting. As a band they have, I feel, a very real...and very unique style. Some of the songs were really, you can tell, written around the Cello.
Go to limewire, or any mp3 download page and search for "Cursive" and the song is titled "Excerpts From Various Notes Strewn Abound The Bedroom Of April Connolly Feb. 24, 1997" its a very cool sounding cello in it. Check out anything from the Cursive album "The Ugly Organ". Everything was written with, or around the cello. I think its definitly shows how versitile this intrument can be... often times it plays such a strong supporting role but isn`t quite the feature... at least in most hard rock-n-roll applications.
Let me know what you think;-)

i am a very adement cello player and there are some very nice cello lines in popular music but they are realy easy there designed for grades 1-4 ish and realy not worth the time i learnt the angel theme tune and i had longed for it for ages but it was not as impressive when the notes were in front of me, the highest it goes is the G in 4th posistion on the A string. there are some worth while classical peices, i advise J. S.Bach "six suites for violoncello solo" (ref. BWV 1007- 1012) and if your looking for something thats a bit more popular there is a nice cello line in "Schindler`s List" if you havr a string quartet. by the way if any one has any a good reccomendation i would like to know i am working towards grade 6 although ive been playing grade 8 music for the last year or so.
