Ok, I am going to be teaching a cellist who started with a teacher who passes away. I am pretty sure that he is only at the beginning of Book 1. I am in need of some games to play with him. Any suggestions? I have been playing the cello for almost 11 years and was trained by the same teacher that he was. Thanks all

Yo.
I`m 15 and have been takin` lessons for only 6 months now.
The way my teach handles it, is he had me buy a book (I have the Alwin Schroeder one, advertised above). It`s great. I work on a different etude every week. Basically, my teach just watches me play, and asses any problems I have. Shows me what I am doing wrong, and explains what to do to make it right, the reason for it, and how exactly to do it. He usually writes it down for me ( for example, work on the angle of the bow) In the book, as a reminder. I have also printed all the free sheet music for `cello from this website, and we go through it periodically and choose something for me to work on...I find it alot more fun working on actual pieces that I can play for family and friends after.
I really hope this helps!!!

Games and stickers?
I dunno..unless he is REALLY young...
But, that would be more for like, memorising stuff...
but, as far as playing goes, the best thing would probably be to bring some interesting partitions for him (forget bach, try something that he would recognise from tv shows, movies, etc). And, like I said, watch, listen, praise, then correct( angle of the bow, position, wrongs notes, etc). Just that and sticking to the book did it for me.
