A man who plays neither, today informed me that the cello is easier than the violin. My instinct was to contridict him, and he sounded surprised when i did. Was he right? I thought they were about the same, I can think of lots of reasons why the cello is more difficult, but I`m sure there are just as many for the violin. Does anyone know which is harder???

I do not think that one or the other is over all harder to learn. Yes there are somethings on the violin that are easier like trills and stuff ,but on the cello stuff like vibrato is easier. Still there is no difference in difficiuty in tring to learn the two different clefs of music. It is just a matter of wanting to learn it ,sticking with it ,and practicing often.
