Hi
I accidently dropped my cello a week ago, and the bridge snapped in two. I took it to the luthier and he said it would be easy to fix. But when I went to pick it up he told me there was a crack when he put the soundpost back in. The crack was right down the middle of the cello at the back. He said he could glue it together or do the major job. My parents decided to glue it back together as it was considerably cheaper. Will the crack ultimately affect the sound produced? I don't mind tiny small differences, as I am just a beginner, but the overall sound of the instrument

Most likely the crack won't have an audible effect, but depending on the crack, it could possibly--and it will definitely lower the value of the cello should you try to sell it at some point. In the future, try to avoid cello technicians who call themselves "luthiers".

I don't really mind about how much it affect the reselling price, as the cello itself wasn't too expensive. So there won't be much affect the sound. Cool Thankyou
