Ok,

so I don't play the cello and know virtually nothing about them. That being said when I moved into my house the previous owner left a cell in the attic. It has two cracks in the top and the finish is pretty dinged up. The only idenfification I can find on it is a sticker insid that reads "Otto Ernst Fischer model 400, 1997 Handcrafted in Germany". My question is, is it worth having it fixed to sell or am I looking at a losing proposition. Thanks in advance for any help.

If you have a music shop that specifies or has a cello section - it would be very useful taking it there. To be honest, they will know most about it, plus they will be able to see the size of the cracks (whereas we cannot), can maybe value the cello as it is and how much it would go for if its fixed. Even if they don't know the brand name, they will be able to put a good value on in terms of craftmanship and how well it plays.
