Hi,
I hope someone can give me some insight.......
I've owned this cello since the late sixties, labeled inside as follows:

Georg Carl Kretzschmann
violin=macher in Neukirchen 17

The final digits of the year appear never to have been filled in.
The label is approx. 1/2" X 1".

The only info I could find on the web about
Georg Carl Kretzschmann is that he was born 1704, died in 1783 and worked 1723 to 1780.

Can anyone give me an idea as to its pedigree (or lack thereof)?
I can supply photos.

Thanks!

Thanks for responding!
I'm not sure how to get you photos in this forum.
I can, however, email some to you.
I have a feeling it's an early to mid 20th Century German
shop instrument. From what I've learned, it was not uncommon to use
older makers (as well as made up names) as brands names.
