I'm between 5'9 to 5'10 in height but that's mainly due to my extremely long legs and long neck. Since the cello is played sitting down, I'm wondering if a 3/4 cello would be large enough for my size. When I sit down, from my behind:P to my shoulder, it measures around 38inches.
I'd rather purchase a 3/4 cello since it's drastically cheaper than a full size.
Thanks for your answers.

no, you really need a full size. i was struggling with a 3/4 size at the height of 5'5. and after all, when you pay more you pay for quality- you will have fuller tone and will be louder

I'm a short kid (5'4")- short legs, short torso, short arms- and I use a full size. I'm thinking you would want a 4/4 size.
I understand that this might not be possible for you to do, but I would suggest it: Go to your local music shop and tell them you are thinking about buying a cello, but you don't know what size you would need. They should let you hold a cello and help you find the correct size. This is what I did, and we just asked for the prices and told them we'd think about it. A good music shop that cares about their costumers (which is what you need if you ever need help with your instrument!) would let you do this. If they don't, ask why and try a different shop!
