Hello, i am new around here. I don't know many things about cello playing, but my girlfriend does and i was thinking about buying her a soft case. You see, she already has this big, heavy case, which is good, but difficult to carry. I'm planning to get her a soft one - it should be light, foldable, easy to carry around, and elegant. Can you please instruct me concerning the things i should be aware of, when deciding which case to buy? Maybe point me to a buying guide - if something like this exists... And yeah, any good brands that i might look at? I should stress out that i have a limited budged...

Thank you!

I would recommend that you check whether your girlfriend actually wants a soft case. As far as I can tell, most cellists want a hard case to protect the instrument and the soft case is because they cant afford a hard one. I would hate it if you went to some expense and had it thrown at you.

What the other person said! 1st did you ask if she wants one?

YOU COULD GIVE ME a soft case! I would never use it. If she had an expensive cello, she might not use it. Hard cases protect against dents and fatal crashes.

<Added>

YOU COULDN'T GIVE ME... ;)
