I’d like to invite you to listen to my composition “Peace and Joy” for cello and piano. This composition was written for my long-time friend Bob Feinberg who was a professional trumpet player and is now beginning study of the cello. The title and the music reflect the two words that come to mind when I think of Bob. The solo part stays entirely in first position and is very tonal. Some meter changes, chromaticism in the harmony, and stylistic changes create interest. Peace is at a slow tempo in 6/8 and 2/4 where the eighth note remains constant. Joy is a lively dance mainly in 2/4. It starts in minor then goes to major and contrasts staccato playing with a lyrical line near the end. Audio files and a sample of the first page of the music can be found here http://www.cooppress.net/page47/page47.html

I hope that you find this a useful addition to the cello repertoire.
