I think you could make every Cello make sound good except one that is made industrial. I prefer Jagar strings for the a- and d-string and don`t care about the others because sometimes strings from a noname
company are the best here. A third thing from importance is that you need enough Rosin on your bow to get the best grip wich stands in close relation to good sound.

I remember it was a silencer which made the cello sound better. A silencer is a device that attaches to a string between the bridge and fine tuners. Does anyone know where I can find this?

I found that not playing it all was the best way, or to replace it with a better instrument.

Also if you get a really bad rosin build-up your cello might start squeaking some ,so try and clean the strings every once in a while with maybe rubbing alcohol or something.(just not a whole lot)

:-o Tilt the sound-post, ARE YOU NUTS!!!!! I almost have a dead cello from someone a hundred years ago or so accidentally tilting the sound-post. It caused an off-centered sound-post crack. A hundred years ago, my cello almost became firewood.
