How long have you play cello to get grade 8 of ABRSM?

I play 4 years and get grade 8

I`ve been playing for 9 years.

2 and a half, did grade 8 now doing a bmus degree.

I guess it depends (a) whether you`re musical anyway, (b) how old you are when you start, (d) how good your teacher is and (c) how much you practise! I started cello when I was not at all "musicalised" (my own made up word) and it took me 5 years to get to grade 3 (but I have had 8 different cello teacher in my lifetime)! Then I took up sax that year and I took a year to get to grade 6 on that and I took my cello grade 6 at the same time, so its up to you ^__^ how helpful I am. not.

I don`t get it grade 1&2&3&4&5&6&7&8???? What`s the difference between like 7 and 8, can any of you show me pieces that are from different grades?

The technical skills required, as well as the overall difficulty, increase with each grade level. You could try your library to see if they have the RCM, or other graded books to get an idea of what`s what.

I don`t quite know how Suzuki compares to RCM ...likely somewhat similar to each other...but I have noticed that Suzuki sticks more with Baroque and Romantic works while RCM will have a wider variety of works...
