what is the difference between the tuning pegs of a P bass and a jazz bass? is there any? from what i've seen the jazz bass seems to have narrower grooves than the P bass, but im not sure.
jazz is for fags, eh? are you aware that rock evolved from jazz and blues? and metal from rock? so you wouldnt have any of the bands you like without jazz, think before you speak. and on a side note, this was asking the difference between tuning pegs, not your opinion on different musical styles.
"jazz is for fags" is something people who can't play jazz say. Some day down the road you'll realize there's more to playing bass than roots of powerchords and following the rhythm guitar.
Take the training wheels off... learn your chords and scales, learn how to walk a bass line. A good jazz bass player must create bass lines on the spot, and provide not only the time, but the harmonic foundation for the group. That's when you realize just how hard bass playing really is.
If you ever want to get paid to play that big hunk of lumber with some strings on it, you need to pull your head out of your ass.

As for the tuning pegs, I really couldn't tell you, but I will say they all do the job just fine.
Musical talent and prowess lies within the soul. It can be unleashed only by a flexible system of improv that jazz offers. If you want to be stuck in the same ol' rut becoming better only marginally then be my guest and hate jazz, but if you want to learn to unleash and explore to progress on bass at incredible rates, then learn to play some dirty jazz.
As for the pegs I think it should be the same if not just a little different. I'm not really sure if it matters; I use the same bass for all the music play.
