I played one when I was a kid in a local brass band. Now I am getting all sentimental about it. After all, there was only 2 of us guys against 30 cornets, and who could get sentimental about a cornet?

Bass section rules!

Here is the same. Last month we had meeting of young musicians from all over the country. For example, there were over 35 trumpets, and only 3 tubas. I`m 17 years old, and I play it in 2 orchestras, and in one brass band. I really enjoy!

my band doesn`t have a tuba.... the lowest range we have is from the Euphoniums and Tenor Trombones.... is there anyway we can "stimulate" the sound of a tuba? (not sure whether thats the right word)

No, I don`t think you can substitute tuba. Maybe you can use bass guitar? Euphonium is nice, but it`s not the same. Tip: Try to find tuba player

noting will replace that true low brass bass sound. a bass guitar still won`t give you those dominating low notes.

...unless you tune the guitar down.
Also, what about those huge saxophones?

I used to play as a kid 5th & 6th grade. My story is I raised my hand after the whole class had chosen their instrument and so I had last pick. The only thing left was the tuba and the next year I was the only one in my class to go into advanced band. They threw me in a closet while I practiced with my band teacher. If I was absent he wouldn`t get paid, so I tried to always be in class. I haven`t played since the 6th grade but I`m trying to get back into it. Know of any good free notes I could download?

Hey! I am 14 and from Cass City, Mi. I love band and the Tuba. I have been playing for about 1 1/2. Our band director is awesome and makes concert band really fun. Marching band is awesome too. Our football team made it to the playoffs for the first time in our schools history, GO HAWKS!

I started out playing cello, then moved to upright bass. Now that I`m in a marching band because it`s a prerequisite at my highschool for the jazz ensomble. I was playing marimba because I can play piano, but I`ve been convinced to start tuba, so I can help the susaphones, since there`s only three of them in the band.
