Well anyone who plays a double bass ot worse, a bass guitar, has no good reason to criticise the tuba. I mean, can you even HEAR a bass guitar over an orchestra? I don`t think so.

this is the bass forum, which automaically includes double, electric and, brass bass. oh yeah, don`t hate what you can`t play. i assume the guy who made the negative comment on the tuba carries around an electric bass, thinking he`s cool, and has absolutely no idea what music is. good for you, you aren`t really a bassist.

Bass guitars aren`t usually included in orchestras, but double basses are.

Sorry, carry on...

Oh, and before I go, I`ll chip in 2 more cents.

If you want another forum included, then why don`t you email the people that RUN this site?

Think about it.

How the hell can someone criticise and instrament that they arent even familiar with. I dont play the tuba and i dont say that the tuba is for losers.

There is a reason why bass has been a part of music for centuaries.
There is a reason why the greatest orchestral songwriters always include bass in their orchestra.
THATS BECAUSE ORCHESTRAL MUSIC ISNT COMPLETE WITHOUT BASS SOUND!
ITS THERE FOR A REASON!

Get a life tuba power, whoever you are.

Tuba is not for losers, and bassists are musicians. I play both in our school band, and neither one is better than the other. This is comparing apples to oranges.

A tuba forum would be helpful though, as there would be a specific space to talk about aspects of the tuba.

Okay, to the idiot(s) who said that the tuba is for losers hear this, it IS there for a reason. The reason is that too many high notes out of flutes and trumpets would be incredibly annoying. It is there to keep the other sounds under control. I play the tuba and it is there because flutes are like the cake and the tuba, trombone, bassoon, baritone are like the frosting. Without enough frosting, the cake would be untouchable. So don't say "ewwwww...." just because you yourself are incapable of playing it.

Hey i totally agree with you. i dont play the tuba however i am friends with many tuba musicians and i was actually looking for a tuba forum so i could help out with instrumental problems since i work on tubas at a shop in north texas. From a musical standpoint a band just isn't a band without bass. seriously what do you turn up in your car, trebble or bass? yea. and anyone knows that a band or and orchestra cannot have any volume without a good tuba musician. look who you always balance to and then tell me they aren't important.
