Hi all...
The time has come for me to dig deep into my pockets and fork out large sums of money to keep my SVT-II (non-pro) thumping like it was designed to - I speak, of course, of new valves.
The dilemma I face however, is which kind of valves to buy - I have heard people mention KT88s as being a drop-in replacement for the standard 6550s, but what I haven`t heard is an adequate description of the tonal qualities of these valves. I`m aware of what my 6550s sound like, and I`m looking for someone to describe to me how KT88s sound in comparison.
Can anyone help me?
