HI, I play the acoustic guitar and want to go on to electric. I havent got much to throw around so can some one please recommend a good guitar and amp.

If you haven`t much money perhaps you should think about a brand name but affordable. Gibson`s Epiphone offers some nice guitars for reasonable prices and Fender`s Squier line as well (i.e. Stratocaster). As far as Amps go you may look into something like a 30 to 50 watt crate, or even marshal and fender have some cheaper models. I suggest going to www.musiciansfriend.com

This may be true of the guitar itself but the make of the amp affects the sound. I say try out a few and see which sound you like. Though if you haven`t got much cash to throw around I`d suggest not going for anything bigger than a 40W.

G`day.. you should take into account-no matter how much money you have.

The type of music you play.- if u play satriani you would be better off (maybe) with a guitar that promotes that type of playing style...
The type of neck you prefer to play. eg gibson necks are generally chunkier than fender etc.
The weight of the guitar.- if your a small guy you might end up with hip or back probs if you play some gibsons etc.
The overall sound of the guitar.. even cheap guitar can sound okay.

I hope that help... no matter what. make up your own mind. Don`t let the guy/gal at the guitar shop sell you what they need too get rid of. After all, in the end there there to sell.
