Few days ago, I was tuning my acoustic guitar and a string suddenly popped right off. I was just wondering if I can just buy a guitar string and put it on my self? Is it hard to put it on? Because I also play the violin, and I can put strings on it. Is it possible for me to put it on myself without any instruction?
Thanks,
Gerard

Yeah you can. Just pull out the bridge pin, put the ball of the string in, replace bridge pin, put through hole on tuning peg, and twist. Your also going to want to stretch the stings when your finished so it will hold tuning.

Restringing your guitar is something you will definitely want to learn to do. Most music stores (all of the ones I worked for in the past) are willing to show you how to put on a string. Just ask them. You CAN figure it out on your own but it`s much better if you get some instruction. There are ways to do it which will help make those strings last longer and stay in tune better.

hi there!
i found this very usefull. http://www.uncletim.com/setup.htm..
i went to a guitar shop too! but the guy was an asshole! he knew i was amatuer, so didnt tell me that i could buy 1 string that i needed, made me buy a packet of them(on 3 occasions)
now that im an intermediate player, i have more sense, have more geetar buds, and a lot wiser, i steer clear of him, found how to string on that site, and any tips i can give you is, get with some mates and jam, you will excell, also try to learn riffs aswell as songs, yazz

I would just assume that if you don`t know how to change your strings on a guitar...you simply don`t even know what a guitar is man.
