I've come to the decision to start learning the guitar, and I'm trying to gather up as much info as I can before I go buy one on impulse. (I'm bad with that, lol) I'm thinking about starting with an electric guitar, I've read some of the older threads & gathered from what people have said that they're basically the same, besides electrics needing equipment. I have the extra money to buy all the equipment, and access to a good teacher. I also found a guitar online that I think is decent quality, for a good price. It's relatively cheap, but I think it might make a good beginner's guitar. Here's the link -

What do yall think of it? Should I start out with an electric or an acoustic? I'm just trying to get as many opinions as I can before I dive in doing something wrong, haha. Thanks!

At the moment that site's Database is offline and they've got debugging turned on. So all I see is the error message from their ASPX page.

Can you give us make, model, ventage, overall condition, and price of the guitar?

I'm just copyin this from the site, this is all they have on it.

The Squier Bullet is a simple, affordable, and practical guitar designed for beginners and students. The Bullet features a slightly slimmer solid hardwood body, a 21-fret Maple neck with a Rosewood fingerboard, and chrome covered tuners. Three single-coil pickups, a non-tremolo hardtail bridge, and 5-way switching make this a good choice for a first guitar, no matter who you are or what style of music you want to learn.

Technical Info
Body: Laminated

Fingerboard: Rosewood

Machine Heads: Die-cast

Frets: 21

Pickups: 3 single coil

Controls: Master volume, 2 tone

Switching: 3-way

Bridge: Hardtail

It's brand new, right out of the shop for $119.00. It would just be a temporary guitar until I learned the ropes & can get a better one, so I think it would hold up fine. I don't know about the company's reputation or anything, so I'm not sure how good their guitars are. Anyway, here's a pic:

If you need more info on it, just tell me and i'll try to dig up more.

Actually it looks perfect for what you're wanting to do.

I'd advise you to have the guy at the store sell you two different brands or types of strings as well.

There are a number of books on starting out with guitar. I'd recomend ISBN 0-634-04701-9

For reviews of that guitar look here http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/electric_guitars/squier/bullet/

Congratulations on your new hobby!

Ask your teacher first about what kind of guitar is recommended for you as a beginner; some people need to start with nylon string classic type guitars, others can handle the steel-string acoustics without giving up, and though the electric is great, it has its particulars too. Good luck , and whatever you do, keep trying till you learn!

AS somewon else said in another issue I is not recommended that u get an electric Guitar first. I meen if you want to you can but I would suggest u get a decent acoustic Guitar with nylon string then when you feel you are prepared you shoudl by an electic guitar. I would say you shoudl buy the acoustic then practice for aabout 2 months hten buy your electric Guitar it is much easier that way.
