Hey people! I am DYING to learn how to play guitar. Ok, I already play clarinet going on 5 years. I have looked at books to learn to play and I am soo confused. I am working on getting a guitar for christmas. it is a beginner one, only $189 bucks and i believe it is a yamaha...is this an OK guitar to start out with? I just don`t know anything about it and i want to learn how to play so i can be a counselor at my camp and also i would love to learn to play Christian music and sing along to it...any ideas? BEST BOOKS TO USE FOR BEGINNERS...PLEASE?! Thanks! Amber

Any guitar that is basically playable is fine for a beginner. Eventually youll be able to get a better brand, but to start you should be fine. Its a great instrument to learn but you shouldnt spend a lot on a guitar unless you are going to be totally committed to it. Enjoy!

The best way to learn to play classic guitar: first get a classic guitar(about $100.00) with nylon strings. Then I recomend you buying a book with cd included by Frederick Noath. Can get it in any college teaching guitar. or order it by internet under the authors name.Guitar playing is hard. so be consistent for few years. It is worthed.Good luck
