More advanced guitarists like myself use the pinky extensively, often exclusively in songs

i use my pinky almost too much, mostly in sweaping but for some reason or other it will pick several notes along with my other fingers, which i find works out much better.

It is better to teach yourself to get the pinky involved
on both the right and left hand when playing fingerstyle but that aside most guitar players regardless of style don't use the pinky much because they never developed it ,get the pinky involved when ever it fits and it will be less likely to get in the way

The pinky is c, for chiquita. So its PIMAc. As mentioned previously, its used very heavily in Flamenco. It's also used in some folk/country idioms that alternate the bass with the thumb and chords with the other 4 fingers.

The little finger of the right hand is also occasionally used in bossa nova guitar. It is not normally used for classical guitar.

(Note that this assumes we're talking about right-handed guitarists. All trained left-handed guitarists used the little finger of the right hand.)

I can say with absolute certainty that you don't use your right-hand pinky for classical guitar playing; my teacher used to shout terrible things at me when I did it. Of course you can use it in other styles but I don't personnally think it's necessary....

It's not my idea of fun, but if the music calls for five strings to be plucked simultaneously I don't see any way around it.
