My dad died in 1973 (when I was 23) and left behind a guitar that I took home as something of his to remember him by. He had played Classical Spanish Guitar when he was younger and was trying to regain his ability when he died (he was only 51). When I took it home I had hoped to learn to play like him but life takes us many places and guitar playing wasn't my place, yet. It's now 2006 (I'm now 56) and I just dug out that old guitar and have been trying to learn. I took the guitar in to be restrung and all the guy would do is ask where I had gotten this guitar. He didn't believe me when I told him my closet. He tried to buy it off me for $200 but I figured if he wanted it that badly, it must have some value. Even though I wouldn't sell my dad's guitar for anything.
It was purchased in 1970 I believe but I can't be sure.
Ventura
Bruno
Model # V-1587
Serial # C32666
P.S. It's the only thing of my dad's that I got, that my brother didn't get. I was wondering if it had any value. Guess I want to thumb my nose at my brother.
