I just bought a Ventura V12 at a yard sale for $10.00. It is in perfect condition and sounds great. What a lucky find as I had no prior knowledge about these guitars.

In 1972, I bought a 6-string Ventura acoustic at a pawn shop in Austin, TX. Very rarely out of my sight. It was stolen in 2001 as part of a burglary while I was on vacation. I want to find another just like it. It was a full-sized guitar with a very dark finish, even on the front. Fretboard was heavily inlaid with mother-of-pearl, an adjustable bridge made of copper, absolutely beautiful finish. The kicker was the wood-laminate pickguard, finished with something harder than polyeurathane. An aluminum thumbpick did not hurt it. Anyone heard of this guitar?

Hey, wow, another Austinite that has a Venture. Where`d you find yours? I can never find anything worth a damn in the pawn shops around here. If I do, it`s way over-priced.

I`ve got 6 of them - Had 1 since `74 - found the rest on the internet - every once in awhile one shows up on ebay, but just put in "ventura` on a good search engine like beacoup.com. Have to go thru alot of things like city of Ventura, Ca or Ventura Highway. Found 2 at the same repair shop up north ($15 ea.) -needed a few small repairs to make them playable. Also they are making a new Ventura guitar here in TX, but no connection to those made in 70`s, other than name

As to which pawn shop... Don`t remember. I was 14, using money from mowing lawns. Pick the right pawn shops and you will find lots of nice guitars.

More info, please. In particular, I am interested in replacing the exact model. To do this, I need to know the exact model. Again, a solid wood pick guard and a solid copper adjustable bridge, with heavy mother-of-pearl inlays. `VENTURA` was inlaid in mother-of-pearl in the head. Crap tuners, though. I loved that guitar.

Anyone know this one? Model number? Some kind of catchy nickname I could search for? HELP!!!

Many thanks..

I recently bought a pretty nice V-14 Ventura for $65 (tax included) and it sounds incredible! I have a D-42 Martin and I actually play the Ventura more often. I think it`s a copy of either a D-18 or D-28 Martin.

I`ve seen numerous references to Ventura classical guitars models 1583, 1588, etc. but none for a model 1537.

Anybody know whether the number indicates an earlier model, or a better/lesser quality model?

I`ve inherited this guitar, and would like to sell it as I`m not a guitarist.

I`ve never seen this model in the old Ventura catalogue. Are you sure about the model number? If you have some pictures, the mystery may be solved.
