I'm looking for an amplifier for my Epiphone Les Paul Standard. I want one for small gigs, so I did some research and figured that anything around a 50 watt(solid state, that is) ought to be about the right size. But some amps that I've been looking on online have 12 inch speakers but are far less than 50 watts. Do these amps have the power necessary to perform? Am I right in thinking a 50 watt is the right size? Could someone please recommend a good powerful amp for under $300?
