Hello!
I have just started to play the guitar ("classical style"), but I need to restring my aunt`s old guitar. Do I use nylon strings or metal strings or a combination? Which is best?

Hello!
If you have a classical guitar is the best choice to give on plastic string (first three). I think that is nice choice because otherwise your finger will ache you too much.
I start lessons two years ago, and i think that guitar is one of the best instrument to play. On fisrt hour my teacher sad to me, that guitar must be your best friend. and it is true. You hold guitar carefully, you can talk with it, and you have fun with it.
Have nice time with the guitar.

The best ,most reasonable, place to but classical guitar strings is at "stringsbymail.com".I would recommend D` addario strings item #DEJ45M $5.60. these strings are medium tension. There is a lot of good information at this site.
Good luck,Bob

NEVER put steel strings on a classical guitar. (Unless you intend on throwing the guitar away shortly after!!!)
They have a different tension (amount of force required to vibrate at correct pitch) and will most likely permanently damage the guitar.
