Hello all (my first post here :P), I have been playing for about 2 years now and the guitar I have at the moment is a Epiphone SG 310 Bolt on Neck. However I now feel like buying a new guitar for a much better sound.
If I had the money I would buy a Gibson SG `61 reissue as I`m looking for that Angus Young type sound but unfortuantly I`m not made of money and can`t really pay the amount that the above mentioned guitar costs.
From reading various bits of info, from what I understand is that the Epiphone G400 is supposed to be the replica of the Gibson SG `61 reissue (correct me if i`m wrong please) and it is a pretty good guitar overall except for the pickups which have been described as bland, lacking bite etc. So this is what I was thinking of doing...replacing the stock pickups in the G400 with both the Angus Young signature pickup for the Bridge & the `57 Classic for the Neck (or the `57 Classic in the neck & the `57 Classic Plus in the bridge).
I`ve never altered my original guitar (apart from maybe raising the pickups a tad or something) so if there are any professionals or people who know what they are doing out there could they give me some advice please ?
p.s Would it be plausable to buy the Epiphone Vintage G400 instead and replace the pickups same as described above or stick with the G400 (not much of a price difference). Remember I`m trying to get that Angus Young type sound.
