Go to musiciansfriend.com and look through that website. There are some good epiphone models or you can go for their house brand which is Rogue. Inexpensive but plays halfway decent.

umm anywhere from 150-300 for beginners, he might want to start out using nylon strings(easier on the fingers)and they can go as low as 75 for a decent one.

You get what you pay for. At $300 the fingers are less likely to bleed. Nylon strings are a good idea but harder to keep in tune. A guitar that will take a good setup and be adjustable with changes in climate is essential. Many Fender & Epiphone tops & bridges will lift, even in this price range, and raise the action. If you can`t play you can`t learn, and vice versa. Yamaha please. Strat man Dwight
