I was wondering if anyone here had an extensive knowledge of electric guitar pick ups both for the bridge and neck position of the guitar. I was looking at some Rio Grandes and wondered if anyone knew anything about them. Ive already bought a Rio Grande Crunchbox for the bridge postition of the guitar now all i need is some advice for the neck position, obviously for those of you who dont know anything about pickups you can already tell that I bought the Crunchbox for a more dirty and crunchy sound hence the name and are extremely hot.

There are two kinds of pick ups for the neck position im debating on getting and its a toss up from here. The Rio Grande bastard is the first one and the second one is The Rio Grande Jazzbar. If anyone has any knowledge on this brand of pickups please respond. Thank you.

hell, you can even just recomend a neck pick up if you think its good it dosent necissarily have to be Rio Grande, I just need some advice.

This is my specialty. Google my name and/or read reviews of Rio Grande pickups at www.harmonycentral.com, try Dwight L., key words like strat. Bottom line is I love Rio Grandes because they are excellent. I have no time for crappy equip. The Bastard will do well, but can get a little aggressive and distorted. Go a little milder perhaps if you`re jazzin` it up. Seymour Duncan is also a nice site to visit. I would also refer you to DiMarzio Fred`s and Air Nortons. Just the good stuff, because I already have enuf enemies and I ain`t skeerd to let `em know (exactly) where I live. Canada`s Strat man Dwight

Actually, I am about to install a crunchbox (bridge) and a fat bastard (neck). All depends on what sound you are looking for, the crunchbox is a very hot pickup, so I can imply that you are not a jazz player, the bastard is a lighter sounding, the fat bastard will mix better with the crunchbox because it is hotter and will not suck too much power from the crunchbox when using the middle switch position, and will give you more grungy sound. I am not really a Duncan guy though I have tried several and they are really good, I like more Dimarzio, the sound is more organic and plastic if I may use the term. So a Fred in the neck would be a good match, or a PAF Joe if you want a more soft sound but still warm. I have just bought a Monterey Fernandes and I set the Fred for bridge and the PAF Joe for neck, it really sounds awsome, fat and buttery neck position, grungy middle position, tight, defined and well saturated for bridge, but I play many styles, that is why I chose those models. As I said before it is a matter of what you are looking for, the Bastard or Fat Bastard are great choices.
