Hi, I was told by someone that you can play lead, chords, and bass all on the same guitar at the same time. Is that true? Cause I`ve been playing guitar for a while now and would like to try it, if its possible.

I suppose you could, but the bass part might be a bit too high-picthed. I don`t quite know about playing them all at the same time, but I`ve played lead, chords, and bass on the same guitar, but with multi-track recording. Personally, I use Cakewalk Pro Audio version 8 for my recording, along with a Behringer MX1604A Mixer board. I suppose you could record with Window`s Sound Recorder, but that program is worth less than crap.
But if you mean playing lead, chords, and bass on the same guitar at the same time, I don`t know much about that. I suppose it`s possible with some work.
Why not talk to the guy you know that mentioned it in the first place?

I seem to remember hearing some song from the radio where some guy played them all at the same time. It might have been Blink 182 with some cleche`d pop-punk song... but then again, that`s all they do.
But with some work on your own part and some playing by ear, you should be completely able to play all three.

Yes it is possible, and really not too difficult. I finger pick, like Lindsay Buckingham, and the bass notes are picked mainly with the thumb, and the chord is strummed with two or three fingers while simultaniously picking individual notes within the chord, as well as other compatible notes around the chord. I learned this style while teaching myself to play bass on an acoustic guitar because I didn`t have a bass to practice on. There are quite a few guitarists who play this style. Flamenco music is played this way, as well as breakdown picking on the banjo with one less string.

This is one of the things at which a 7 string guitar excels. Jazz cats like Howard Alden and George Van Epps play walking bass lines whilst playing chords and single note melodies as a matter of course. Having that extra low B (or A if you prefer) string gives you a bit more bottom than a standard tuned six string without forcing you to learn any new fingerings.
Heck, there is one jazz guitarist named Michéle "Mick" Ramo who plays an 8 string nylon string guitar with the two bass strings sans frets.

Check out Martin Sexton (www.martinsexton.com). I saw him live and it was just him on acoustic guitar and a drummer. The two of them managed to sound like a 3 or 4 piece band. He thumbs the bass lines, and picks/strums the melody and leads. Oh yeah, and he`s also got one of the most amazing voices ever. If you haven`t checked him out, you`re doing yourself a dis-service.
