use the bar chord e 10
b 10
g 11
d 12
a 12
e 10
Thats the bar chord for D major in standard tuning. So just play that.

Kathrine- You shortened the strings 3 frets, so the pitch is 3 half-steps higher. Thus a C chord is now an Eb, D is F, E is G, F is Ab, G is Bb and A is C. To make a D chord, move the A shape chord (or Bb) up to the 7th fret. The full 6 string chord is, bar at 5 and add the A shape at 7. A simpler 4 string chord is to fret the high 1st string at 5 and add the other 3 for the A at the 7th fret. Next D chord would be the F shape at the 10th fret, as Colin said.

I just discovered that 8notes.com has a chord chart, and it shows these three chords. When the main menu comes up, look to the right in "Resources" where you see "Chord Chart". Call that up. Choose D. From that, choose "D Major". Scroll down to Fret 5, Fret 10, and Fret 5 again. You can even play these chords to hear them!
