can anyone tell me what happens if you turn the screw next to the pickup.....i noticed if you turn it right it the pickup moves higher and left, the pickup moves lower..Does that have any effect?

You`re right. They`re pickup height adjustment screws. Raising the pickup, whether you raise just one side or both, will make the guitar sound louder, through the amplifier, and could even make it unpleasant or distorted. You can also cause magnetic string pull "gauss" or a physical collision between strings and pickups poles by getting them too close. Look for the sound that suits you best. Strat Man Dwight
