Any National Resophonic guitar users and owners out there? Have you seen or heard any better, perhaps worse? How about Fender resophonics? Since they are cheaper, would there be any problems compared to the National brand? Thank you. Strat man Dwight

I think I`d stick with the brand name. I played a National and a Dobro. Don`t most pros play the higher end names?

I have a Gibson DWF60 that I bought off of ebay last spring. I was all set to buy a Hound Dog (which I did try out) when this came up on ebay for the same money. Twice the guitar for the same money? -- not much of a choice!

I have never had the chance to play a National. I have played a Fender wood and a Fender metal. The metal sounds FAR better than the wood, but it is heavy as heck, but neither compares to the Gibsons I`ve played.

I live near a lot of big music stores, but it is still hard to find many resonators to try out. Not much interest nowadays I guess.

I really love the tone of my Dobro. I came with 10`s on it, fit my hand like a dream, and was so sweet to fingerpick that it took me quite a while to finally push up the gauge for the slide sound I bought it for.

My only wish was that its neck joint was at the 14th fret instead of the 12th. I have learned to work with it and reach around, but more access would be nice. There are some really cool Dobros with pickups and cutaways out there for a whole lot of money, but it`s hard to plunk down that much for your first resonator, at least it was for me.

Good Luck!
