teach myself to play the guitar? I am grade 4 on piano and 3 on saxophone and I`m keen to take up the guitar. Also is it recommended to start playing off by playing the electric guitar?

You should really start off by playing acoustic and when it is easy for you to do your stuff on there then progress to the electric. Get somebody to show you a few simple chords and from then on it is easy to be self-taught.
