I`m currently the proud owner of a Gibson SG, been playing about 6 years so i deserve it, however i get paid about £800 at the end of the month, now i have a choice, i can either buy a new guitar or a Vox tonelab SE (£320 pedal).

My SG has a beautiful sound and i love it, but its not great for shredding and playing fast stuff in general. As a result don`t really know what guitar to get, i was thinking along the lines of an ibanez...something like a jem 555 (cheapest i can find :P) or a JS1000. of course its not all about shredding, i liek the idea of just having a new guitar, i`m also looking along the lines of an american strat...or if needs be mexican but i also have an obsession with the jaguar baritone custom, i love that thing...but i have reason to believe that they don`t have the greatest of necks, but quite a large sound range...

So anyway, any ideas? (note: i hate telecasters, so don`t go there)

for shredding Topr choice has to be a jem.

if ur broke, strat mexicans are good guitars, and pretty fast for the money.
