I`ve been playing piano for two years. The first song I learned was the Mario Bros. Theme song. In those two years i have perfected it. Recently won first at a talent show playing it.
Piano is my life!

I`ve been playing since I was 5 and I`m now 15 so that makes 10 years and my first ever piece was called Jelly On A Plate in a beginners book of piano and at the moment I am playing Chopin`s Petite Chien-one of those callenging yet great sounding pieces.

i have been playing for about 10 years now and wouldn`t be able to live life without it! my first song was out of the Alfred series...Old McDonald, or something like that. anyway, now i am working on the Invetions by Bach, all 15! they are so much fun

It seems to me that the adults here who started piano as children can reasonably interpret "[H]ow long have you been playing[?]" to mean "How old were you when you started?". We are not obliged to reveal our ages.

My mother gave me a few lessons when I was in second grade and either seven or eight years old. My first piece--it isn`t a song; for that matter, it probably wasn`t even a piece, more of an exercise--was the first in the Alfred method book. Shortly afterward I played "Bridge at Avignon" at my first recital and felt very bad and guilty when I was applauded because the other kids were obviously so much more advanced than I. I would have preferred merely to be tolerated.

Just a bit later I told my mother that some piece or exercise looked too difficult, and she said, "That`s okay; you don`t have to play it [or the piano]," and that was the end of my lessons--NOT the reaction I was expecting. I was certainly much more disappointed than relieved but didn`t see I had any recourse.

A few years later I began to teach myself with whatever music I found about the house and to compose. When I was fourteen or fifteen I began to improvise. I entered college as an essentially self-taught freshman music major.

I`ve been playing for 1 1/2 days now, and i now can play desperado.
only the chords though, does anyone have full sheet music of desperado from the eagles

hi i have been playing for 3 months its the best thing i have done for a long time, i`m 51 and my first song was silent night.

I started playing piano in 1st grade and now i am in ninth. I think the first song i learned was old mcdonald had a farm. now, i play all different types of music and flute and im jazz band.. never too late to start i think!! piano is my fav instrument and everyone should learn to play it.
