be able to play. Can you name any songs for me? It`s research for a writing project. I do play piano but not for that long and I have no idea what type of stuff a person like that could play. Thanks for the help!

Funny...because I`m actually that old and have been playing that long...
I`d say that people should play, if they want to play classical, to go with Rachmaninoff`s Prelude in C# minor, Mozart Sonata`s, Moonlight Sonata and Fur Elise by Bethoven. And a Debaussy song.

What`s really hard is making huge jumps quickly. Like, playing in the left hand on the first beat down low and the second beat up high, and then low, and then high, and so on and so on.
Another thing that`s important to work on, and many people hate doing so is working on scales. All sorts of scales. It helps with your overall technique and your ability to sight read in that key.
A third thing that`s hard to do is to transpose manually in your head. You have to be really thinking to be able to do this, but once you get it down, you can be really successful at accompanying singers.
Anything Else
