As a 38 year old who as had previous musical (grade 5 french horn, tenor horn etc), I was wondering does learning to play the piano just 'click' like learning a bike or driving a car?

I'm refering to the different use of the hands, sometimes I cannot play barely a note then the next time play the piece through without a prolem.

I started playing piano pretty late (although not anywhere near 38!), but it still "clicked" for me. Considering that you already have musical training, it shouldn't be hard.

There is hope....
I came from your background. I was a bass player before I was a pianist. I started playing piano later in my musical career. While I practiced bass everyday, It was an hour here and there and was not structured so much. I had no idea what Practice was until I started learning the piano! It is the hardest instrument without a doubt w/ exception being maybe voice. I considered myself somewhat of a virtuoso on the bass, but when I got to piano I realized I was such a child to music. The keyboard will open up doors to your musical insight. While it is hard work, it pays off big time. Now my bass sadly, sits in the corner and collects dust while I try to tackle the giant body of musical literature that has been waiting for so many years.
